TOKYO (AP) — Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto, known for his larger than life avant garde designs has died after suffering from leukemia since February this year.
Yamamoto was the first Japanese designer to make it big in the U.K after showcasing at London Fashion Week in 1971.
He has dressed fashion heavyweights such as the late great Dawie Bowie, Lady Gaga and Marc Jacobs.
“In my eyes, my father was not only the eclectic and energetic soul that the world knew him as, but someone who was also thoughtful, kind-hearted and affectionate,” his daughter Yamamoto Mirai said.
One of his most famous quotes are..”It is clear that I don’t want to live unnoticed”.
